“Bring the Noise” - Public Enemy
End of senior year, early 1990. My musical tastes started to broaden. The show In Living Color was exposing me to rap in preparation for NYC. I was listening to Faith No More and checking out my brother’s Slayer and Rush albums. Public Enemy was the most overtly political group at the time and the lyrics really exposed me to the two Americas, changing my worldview in a big way. Oh, and it was raw like early punk.
